NORTHPORT – For the second-straight area match, the Oak Mountain Eagles found themselves facing an uphill battle after dropping the opening set.

However, just like their 3-1 win over Thompson, Oak Mountain stayed strong on the road won the next three sets to take a 3-1 win, this time over the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats on Monday, Sept. 23.

With the win, the Eagles improved to 3-0 in area play with one area match remaining against Hoover at home on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

While the teams were fairly close down the stretch in the first set, Tuscaloosa County got the better of Oak Mountain and won the opening frame.

However, that 25-19 win by the Wildcats would prove to be their only set win of the match as the Eagles recovered from there.

Oak Mountain flipped the script in the second set kept Tuscaloosa County at an arm’s length to seal the 25-20 win.

With that set win evening up the match, the Eagles pressed on into the third set and won by a similar score line as the second.

Oak Mountain took the third set 25-19 to flip the 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead that put the pressure on the Wildcats instead.

The Eagles finished out strong and remained consistent down the stretch in the fourth set. Their 25-20 fourth-set victory, which was the same score as the second set, paved the way for the 3-1 victory in the match.

Oak Mountain will hope to make it two wins in as many days as it faces the Mountain Brook Spartans on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. on the road at Mountain Brook High School.
