Chelsea, Spain Park post big times at Southern Showcase

HUNTSVILLE – It was a big day for the Chelsea Hornets and Spain Park Jaguars as they took on The Southern Showcase at Huntsville’s John Hunt Park on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Chelsea’s Ty Cason walked away with the win in the Blue Girls 5K thanks to her time of 19:49.46, which was four seconds faster than any other runner in the race. Juliette Edwards came in seventh with a time of 20:27.29.

Other big finishes for the Hornets included Hannah Quick, who came in 23rd with a time of 21:12.56, Emily Davis, who finished in 81st with a time of 22:17.66, and Sydney Johnson, who posted a time of 24:47.48 to come in 252nd place. Those five times helped Chelsea finish sixth in the team standings with 315 points.

Chelsea’s Hudson Williams finished in second place in the Blue Boys 5K with a time of 16:14.92. He was joined in the top five by his teammate Conner Campbell, who came in fourth with a time of 16:29.48.

The Hornets finished ninth in the team standings for the race behind a 54th-place time of 17:36.96 from Carson Campbell, a 144th-place run of 18:23.45 from Anden Peek and 213th-place time of 18:52.89 by Champ Lloyd.

All three runners beat their personal records, with Carson topping his by 15 seconds, Peek beating his by 17 seconds and Lloyd shaving 10 seconds off his PR.

In addition, Jonathan Ludwig led all Hornets runners in the Crimson Boys 5K as he came in 200th with a time of 20:33.54.

Spain Park’s Brody Ahlemeyer came in 84th place in the Championship Boys 5K with his time of 16:58.46. His teammate Luca Zellner just finished inside the top 250 with a 249th-place finish of 19:14.44.

In the Championship Girls 5K, Madison Harvey finished in 68th place with a time of 20:15.69.

Mackenzie Colbaugh took 11th place in the Crimson Girls 5K with her time of 21:51.10. In the same race, Caroline Barlow came in 59th place with a time of 24:20.46 and Reese Williams finished 62nd with a time of 24:25.01.

Lily Livingston’s time of 25:11.38 in 103rd place and Allie Barton’s time of 25:15.46 in 106th place rounded out the scoring runs for the Jags as they earned fifth place with 267 points.
