COLUMBIANA – After spending the first two weeks of the season on the road, the Cornerstone Christian Chargers came back to the friendly confines of their home field for the first time on Friday, Sept. 6, and they kicked off their homestand with another large victory.

The Chargers defeated the Meadowview Christian Trojans 48-8 at Cornerstone Christian School to remain undefeated and pick up their second win of AISA Class A play.

It was another big night of performances on both sides of the ball as Cornerstone took the lead and never looked back en route to a 40-point victory.

Most of the damage for the offense came on the ground as quarterback Zeke Adams led the way with six rushes for 65 yards and a touchdown.

In all, four different players scored a rushing touchdown as Drake Dunning had two carries for 55 yards and a touchdown, Cohen Hewitt finished with two rushes for 39 yards and a touchdown and TC Sanders had two carries for eight yards and a score.

Sanders was also responsible for one of the most explosive plays of the evening as he took a kickoff 68 yards for a touchdown.

Adams only attempted two passes on the evening, but he made the most of his one completion to Noah Schober for a 35-yard touchdown. In all, Cornerstone had 270 yards of total offense.

While the Chargers continued to rack up points on the scoreboard, their defense once again had a strong showing, limiting the Trojans to just one score.

Malachi Adams got into the backfield early and often and grabbed six sacks over the course of the evening to lead the team.

Zeke, Cohen Hewitt, Dunning and Sanders each had two tackles apiece while Sanders, Hewitt and Landon Alexander each earned a sack.

The defense also came up with a turnover when Hewitt forced a fumble that Alexander recovered.

With the win, Cornerstone moves to 3-0 on the season as AISA Class A play ramps up and the Chargers seek to defend their 8-man state title.

This Friday, Sept. 13, Cornerstone will face the team it beat to earn that state championship, the Springwood Wildcats, at Cornerstone Christian School in a state title game rematch.
