Alabaster man arrested on nine counts of child pornography

COLUMBIANA – Allan Acosta Ramirez, an 18-year old from Alabaster, was arrested on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, and charged with nine counts of possession of child pornography with intent to disseminate.

In August of 2024, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigators received a tip from The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The investigation led to Ramirez’s arrest.

At this time, investigators have no information that suggests the images were produced in or near Shelby County.

Additional charges may follow as the investigation continues.  Acosta was booked in the Shelby County Jail and remains on a $270,000 bond.

“Thanks to the tireless efforts of The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, we were able to make a significant arrest in this case,” Shelby County Sheriff John Samaniego said. “Our commitment to protecting children from exploitation remains unwavering, and we will continue to utilize every resource and partnership available.”
