PELHAM – After a busy weekend at the Juanita Boddie tournament, the Pelham Panthers kept their winning ways going as they rolled to a 3-0 sweep over the Shades Valley Mounties on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at Pelham High School.

Pelham entered the match on a four-game win streak thanks to its Bronze Bracket title at the Juanita Boddie, with its latest win over Shades Valley being the first five-set match win of their now five-game unbeaten run.

The Panthers put their foot on the gas from the get-go and didn’t let up as they cruised to three straight set wins by double digits.

Pelham opened up a big lead in the first set and went on to win the opening frame from there as they secured the 25-11 victory to go up 1-0 in the match.

After that, the Panthers got off to another big start in the second set before producing a very similar result.

Pelham took its second 25-11 set win of the match to take a commanding 2-0 lead, which established it even more as the favorite in the match.

From there, the Panthers continued to roll on to victory as they improved on their previous two set wins to take the third set by one more point than the rest.

Pelham walked away with the 25-10 win in the third set to wrap up the 3-0 sweep and keep their winning ways going with its fifth straight win in a row.

The Panthers will continue their homestand on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 6 p.m. against the Tuscaloosa Academy Wildcats before making the trip north to Huntsville over Labor Day weekend for the Ironman.
