PELHAM – The Pelham Parks and Recreation Department is now offering a new fall clinic that seeks to introduce youth in the community to the sport of lacrosse.

In cooperation with the Greater Birmingham Youth Lacrosse Association, Pelham’s fall lacrosse clinic will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Pelham Recreation Center.

“Our mission is to help grow the sport of lacrosse for girls and boys with our local Greater Birmingham Youth Lacrosse Association,” read a summary of the event’s agenda. “The clinic will focus on fundamentals, teamwork and most importantly, having fun.”

Boys and girls aged 8-13 years old are invited to take part in the clinic which will begin at 11:30 a.m. and last until 1 p.m. Over the course of the clinic, players will be introduced to basic lacrosse skills such as stick and footwork techniques as well as how to properly launch and handle the ball.

No personal sporting equipment is required for participation and all necessary gear will be provided as part of the camp. Organizers do encourage that children bring their own water bottle to encourage hydration during the activity.

Registration costs for the event will be $5 for each participant. Organizers have also stipulated that the program, as planned, will have a limit set on 60 participants and that those interested should register while spots remain available.

Registration for the fall lacrosse clinic can be found at Pelhamrec.recdesk.com/Community/Program/Detail?programId=1428.
