ALABASTER – As students stepped off the bus at Creek View Elementary School they were immediately greeted by a cascade of exciting pop music and the best dance moves their bus drivers could muster during the start of an exciting and fun first day of school on Aug. 8.

After a summer of preparation, Principal Charissa Cole and her staff were ready for another exciting school year full of fun activities and educational opportunities at Creek View Elementary.

“I am so excited,” Cole said. “It is wonderful to see all of the smiling faces. Our students are very excited today and our teachers are as well. We have several new staff members that have gone to training, and they are ready for the new school year.”

New faces on staff aren’t the only new detail at CVES as the school saw significant renovations over the course of the summer with new floor tile, ceiling tile, casework and paint for the classrooms on the 100 and 200 halls. Soon, more classrooms will get a similar treatment with the 200 and 400 hallways classrooms set to be renovated next summer.

‘I’m just so thankful for our board of education and Superintendent Dr. (Wayne) Vickers who have allowed us to renovate the 100 and 200 hallways,” Cole said. “Our classrooms look beautiful and amazing.”

Each year, the Alabaster City Schools Board of Education visits every school in the district on the first day of school and Creek View marked the second stop of the day on Aug. 8. As the board members traveled through the school, they saw all of faculty and staff hard at work to continue building the “Champions of our future.”

“I’m so proud of the work that’s been done by the teachers and administrators to prepare for the school year,” Vickers said. “They have done a phenomenal job.”

As teachers and staff at CVES move forward with the next school year they are guided by a new motto that’s simple in its premise but is core to their mission as educators at a National Blue Ribbon School.

“We teach all students well,” Cole said. “And we’re just excited to continue.”
