The Alabama Department of Transportation has advised that all Interstate 65 South bound lanes between Pelham, Exit 242, and Alabaster, Exit 238, will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. until further notice so that an accident investigation may be conducted.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency will conduct a recreation investigation on I-65 during the closure period which is reported to last two hours.

All southbound traffic will be routed off the interstate at Exit 242, then travel down U.S. 31 and re-enter to I-65 at Exit 238. The city of Alabaster encourages residents to avoid the area if possible during those times due to traffic congestion on U.S. 31.
