ALABASTER – The Alabaster City Schools Board of Education approved changes to its Child and Nutrition Program pricing—marking the first increase in prices since 2017—during a meeting on Monday, July 18.
Each year, Alabaster City Schools publishes the prices for its Child and Nutrition Program before the start of the school year. This year, the BOE unanimously approved an increase in prices which were described as keeping Alabaster City Schools in line with neighboring school systems.
For the 2024-2025 school year, elementary school lunches are increasing from $2.75 to $3 with middle school and high school lunches increasing from $3 to $3.25. Breakfast will remain at the same price at $2.
“Our goal is to provide your children with nutritious and delicious meals,” read an official description of Alabaster City School’s CNP program on its website. “We see our students, faculty and other guests as valued customers and we believe that we have the responsibility to foster healthy eating habits while providing safe, clean environments for meals.”
Alabaster City Schools offers free and reduced lunches to qualifying students and more information on how to apply can be found on the school system’s official website at Acsboe.org/page/child-nutrition. Children who require a special diet due to a medical condition can have a special diet form completed so that the school system may better provide assistance.
According to the school system’s website, all five of Alabaster City Schools CNP Programs have received a 100 for their health inspection scores. Lunch menus can be viewed for each school in the district on the Alabaster City Schools app.
