NORTH SHELBY – Deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 200 block of Shoal Run Trail at 4:18 p.m. on Sunday, July 21 after a shooting occurred.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the torso. Deputies rendered aid to the victim until other personnel could arrive on the scene. North Shelby Fire responded and provided rescue aid and the victim was transported to a Birmingham area hospital. The victim underwent surgery and is currently recovering.

Shortly after the shooting, deputies detained a suspect at an unspecified location near the scene. The shooting appears to be the result of a domestic incident and the sheriff’s office does not believe there is any reason to suspect any danger to the community at this time.

The investigation is still ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
