MONTGOMERY – Carmen Britt represented Spain Park well at North-South All-Star Week as she put up a strong performance as part of a North win.
Britt won her duals match 11.5-6.5 during the North-South girls golf competition at Arrowhead Golf Club in Montgomery on Monday, July 15.
Britt teamed with Oneonta’s Savannah Sandlin to represent the North All-Stars and defeat Gulf Shores’ Rayla Pierce and Smiths Station’s Lyndee Davis, who both played for the South All-Stars.
Their match win helped the North All-Stars defeat the South All-Stars 51-39 and win the North-South All-Star competition for the fourth time in the five years that the competition has been held.
Jags coach Keat Litton helped guide the North All-Stars to another win in the boys golf competition as a member of the coaching staff. The North won 39-33 to extend their unbeaten run in the boys golf All-Star competition to five straight meetings.
Britt had a strong season for the Jags with multiple sub-80 rounds as a key part of a Spain Park team that saw two individual qualifiers for sub-state and one for the state championship.
Litton helped Spain Park’s boys golf team win the Class 7A state championship this past season while Chase Kyes won the individual title.
The win continues the Jags success at the North-South golf events. In 2023, Spain Park sent three golfers to compete in the competition, including Wes Sauceda and Luke Ballintine in the boys event and Emma Fortier in the girls competition. Litton also was an administrative coach last year.
The North-South All-Star week sees the top juniors from around the state of Alabama compete against one another in showcase events. Golf and baseball kicked off the week-long event that goes until July 19 at the AHSAA’s summer conference.
