Helena Fire Department extinguishes fire at Publix

HELENA – The Helena Fire Department successfully extinguished a fire coming from the restroom area of the Publix on Highway 17.

According to the Helena Fire Department, a crew was dispatched to 4730 Highway 17 at 12:48 p.m. on Monday, July 15 to a structure fire at the Publix at Crow’s Corner in Helena. Store employees were evacuated from the building prior to the department’s arrival.

The fire department crew arrived on scene to find the fire coming from the restroom area, and with the assistance of the building’s sprinkler system, the fire was successfully extinguished quickly. The damage from the fire was limited to the restroom area and there were no injuries.

The circumstances of the fire are currently being investigated by the Helena Detective Bureau as well as the Helena Fire Department’s fire investigation detective.

Publix will remain temporarily closed as detectives process the scene and store employees will determine when the store will reopen for business and will notify the community of its reopening.
