The Oak Mountain Eagles continue to earn recognition for their spectacular boys soccer season as multiple players have been named the best in the region.
Eagles forward Aidan Riley, defender Luke Jovanovich and forward Nate Joiner were named to the All-Region Team by the United Soccer Coaches. Oak Mountain announced the awards on social media on Wednesday, July 10.
Riley’s recognition is the latest for him after he was named the Shelby County Player of the Year and a finalist for the Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year.
His play on the wing was essential to the Eagles success as he ended the year with 25 goals while also chipping in 10 assists.
Jovanovich helped Oak Mountain on both ends of the pitch, playing a key role in his team’s stellar defensive form while also helping in the attacking buildup as a wing back. He finished the 2024 campaign with 12 assists while also scoring three goals himself.
The junior defender finished out the year strong with Class 7A Final Four MVP honors for his roles in the semifinal win over Huntsville and state championship game victory over Auburn High.
Joiner was a pure striking threat up top as he closed the book on his Eagles career with a standout goal-scoring season. He had the second-most goals in the county with 32 and also had five assists.
All three players have been busy earning spots on postseason teams as each of them were named to the Super All-State First Team, Class 7A All-State First Team, All-County First Team and All-Metro First Team.
Oak Mountain completed a historic season with a 29-0-1 undefeated record and a Class 7A state championship, finishing the season as the top ranked team in the state of Alabama. The Eagles also currently sit as the No. 3 spring boys soccer team in the nation according to MaxPreps.
