The Montevallo Bulldogs have been on the rise in recent years in many sports, trying to make statements and push farther in the postseason. Now, the girls basketball program is gaining some attention with its newest college signing.
Senior center Tristan Stoutermire has officially signed with Arkansas State University after a phenomenal final season with the Bulldogs.
The 6-foot-5 inch standout was a serious problem to play against in Class 4A in 2024, and she has the stats to back it up.
She scored 12.6 points per game and collected 11.2 rebounds per game, averaging a double-double throughout her senior season. She dropped a career-high 27 points against Holt during the final year for her high school campaign, improving the scoring average in a big way.
She also was a force defensively, recording 118 blocks throughout the season, a mark that was good enough to be the best in the county.
Stoutermire was named to the 2023-24 All-County Second Team for her efforts, helping the Bulldogs to reach the area championship game in Area 6 and a sub-regional appearance, where they lost to Dora and ended the season at 11-14.
Now, she will make her way out to Jonesboro, Arkansas, to play for a Red Wolves squad that is coming off of a 13-17 year and trying to turn their program around, hoping to make noise in the Sun Belt Conference and make a push towards the NCAA Tournament.
