PELHAM – The Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena officially unveiled a new pick-up soccer program that will make use of the facility’s brand-new indoor turf on Tuesday, June 11 in a display that further exemplified the facility’s variety of offerings.

Now available, visitors are able to take part in indoor pick-up soccer games at a rate of $10 an hour, where they can enjoy summer sports in a controlled and air-conditioned environment.

Groups will also be able to arrange for the rental of the space to host private soccer and flag football games at a rate of $165 per hour.

Located at 500 Amphitheater Road, the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena’s indoor turf will remain available for use until Sunday, July 14. It will then be dismantled in order for the facility to prepare the floor and event space for the professional rodeo event being presented on July 19-20 in partnership with Kidz Outdoors and the 3R Rodeo Company.

“Don’t miss out on this fantastic new addition to our complex,” read the announcement from the facility. “Grab your friends and come check it out.”

According to the executive director of the Pelham Civic Complex, Seth Greenberg, this is the first summer that the Pelham Civic Complex has had turf available for use.

“The turf can (now) be rented for any indoor sports, just to practice indoors with air conditioning or (for) any other use that people may have,” Greenberg said.

Installation of the new turf is a simple process—as it is simply brought in to the arena in a number of separate pieces and rolled out across the width of the arena floor. The turf is then joined together into one unified field thanks to concealed Velcro straps and sat into place. When not needed, the material can then be just as easily separated and rolled up for storage.

Organizers have assured regular users of the complex that the turf in the main arena will not have an impact on ongoing skating classes or the complex’s free skate days—as the complex’s practice rink is still in full use and actively serving as the host for all such activities.

Those interested in reserving a time to utilize the turf field are encouraged to visit the registration website at IndoorPickUpSoccer.as.me. Those with additional questions can also call organizers at the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena at 205-620-6448.
