With the completion of another successful soccer season in Shelby County, the contributions of many players were honored with the recent release of the 2024 boys soccer All-State Team.

The team was released on May 21 after coaches from programs around the state voted on those who made the biggest impacts in each classification. Shelby County is home to many of the names on the team.

Nine players from the area were named to each of the All-State All-Classification squads, which fields players from every soccer team across the state of Alabama, regardless of classification.

The First Team included five players from Oak Mountain in Gabe Capocci, Nate Joiner, Luke Jovanovich, Aidan Riley and Om Shrestha. Chelsea’s Luke Miller and Thompson’s Braylon Anderson were also named.

The Second Team saw Chelsea keeper Brock Marlow and Westminster at Oak Mountain’s Aiden Gamble.

Each of the five classifications also fielded a First and Second Team for the year to go along with an Honorable Mentions list for all classifications.

In Class 7A, the Chelsea Hornets had Marlow, Miller and Kaleb Bass on the 7A First Team, with Javi Rivera-Miranda and Max Wever being on the Second Team.

Marlow finished his senior year in goal off with 78 saves and eight clean sheets, helping Chelsea to finish No. 3 in the Class 7A rankings.

The Oak Mountain Eagles saw Capocci, Joiner, Jovanovich, Riley and Shrestha on the First Team and junior forward Sam Collins on the Second Team.

Riley and Joiner combined for a dominating 57 goals over the course of the season on the way to a state championship run.

The Thompson Warriors also had Anderson make the First Team. Patrick Dunaway and Gio Gallegos were both put on the Honorable Mentions list.

In Class 6A, the Briarwood Christian Lions saw Cameron Harrington receive 6A First Team honors, while Sawyer Felton, Thomas Lanier and Emerson Maughan received Honorable Mentions.

The Pelham Panthers are represented by Jair Camargo, Elder Esquivel and Raul Jacobo on the First Team and Matthew Chaux on the Second Team. Jake Garner and Anzel Santos were named to the Honorable Mentions list.

Indian Springs’ Erik Ledvina was named to the Second Team, while Avery Biga and Halden Honeycutt were with the Honorable Mentions.

For the Helena Huskies, Jack Hendrix, Austin Lewis, Austin Rodriguez and Charlie Steel were all named Honorable Mentions for the 2024 season.

In Class 6A, Edson Gonzalez was put on the Honorable Mentions list for the Calera Eagles. He was the top goal scorer on the team this season, putting 17 shots in the back of the net.

For Class 4A, the Montevallo Bulldogs’ Ben Locks was named to the 4A First Team, with Irving Choto and Alexis Lopez being named for Honorable Mentions.

In the Class 1-3A section, Westminster at Oak Mountain saw Gamble, Sam Carter and Noah Holmes on the 1-3A First Team. Charlie Krulak, Walter Moore and Rocco Zaccagni were named to the Second Team.

Gamble completed his junior campaign with 35 goals to go along with his 14 assists. His scoring tied the school record for the most goals in a season.

As for coaches, Oak Mountain’s David DiPiazza was named the Large School (6-7A) Coach of the Year, while Westminster at Oak Mountain’s Cody Baxter was named for the Private/Parochial School division.
