PELHAM – The Ballantrae Golf Club is currently preparing to tee off for the 10th annual Swinging Fore Achievement Golf Tournament next month.

The annual event, which has been held in Pelham since 2016, will return to the Ballantrae Golf Club on Thursday, May 16. Sign-in will open the day of the event at 11:30 a.m. with lunch provided beginning at 11:30 a.m. and lasting until the shotgun start that is scheduled for 1 p.m.

With Alabama Water Utilities serving as the main sponsor of the tournament, the event will serve to benefit The Arc of Shelby County and their work toward empowering individuals in Shelby County with developmental disabilities, as well as their families, to achieve their goals and live better lives.

“The Arc of Shelby County has grown from a small support group into an advocacy agency that has had direct contact with more than 1,500 children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families each year,” read a description of the organization from the event’s website. “The organization has watched the capacity to provide life-changing programs and services to individuals blossom into a potential to provide tools for improving an already strong and growing community.”

The event will also serve to highlight many of the recent improvements to the Ballantrae Golf Club’s course, which received numerous upgrades to its bunkers and main clubhouse that have been completed in recent weeks.

“We enjoy hosting this event (every year) because of the positive impact The Arc of Shelby County has for those they assist around the county,” said Hal Brown, general manager of the Ballantrae Golf Club.

The entry fee for individual players stands at $150 per person and team entries are set at $600 per team. As part of the tournament, prizes will also be presented to the top three teams at the conclusion of the event.

Each entry fee includes the green fee and a golf cart as well as access to pre-round practice balls, lunch, a Ballantrae course yardage book and a goodie bag.
