NORTH SHELBY – Shelby County residents will have a new stop for all of their fried chicken cravings when Super Chix opens its doors on U.S. Highway 280.
Shelby County is set to receive its first Super Chix when the business opens its doors on Thursday, April 11 at U.S. Highway 280, Suite 101 where Krispy Kreme was formally located.
“Everybody on our team is super excited,” Owner Perla Chavez said. “We have received a lot of calls (about) when we’re opening (and) everybody has been stopping by to see. We feel really welcomed on this side of town already.”
Chavez said she is excited about the energy that her staff will bring to the area as well as the food that the business has to offer.
Super Chix focuses on providing customers with a variety of fried chicken options, including sandwiches, tenders and salads. According to Chavez, it takes eight minutes for them to freshly prepare the customer’s order and have it ready to be served at the table.
“Our focus is on the quality of the chicken,” Chavez said. “Whenever you come into (our restaurant), you place your order and as soon as we get your order in the kitchen, we grab the raw chicken, we dip it into the milk and egg wash and then we (add our) special seasoning that Super Chix has come up with and after that then we put it in the fryer.”
Alongside the restaurant’s signature chicken dishes, it also offers hand-cut fries with a variety of seasonings to choose from. Customers can then choose from a variety of eight different dipping sauces to accompany their meal.
However, Super Chix isn’t just known for its chicken as the restaurant also features a variety of frozen custards.
“We make it in-house every single morning as well, so it’s fresh every single time you go in,” Chavez said.
Customers can order by the cup and select a scoop size or obtain one of the businesses cold fusions which feature toppings such as Reese’s peanut butter cup, Mint Oreo and Pretzel M&M. Super Chix also offers hand-spun shakes in a variety of flavors and pints of custard to be taken home for later.
The new Super Chix on U.S. 280 will stand out among its sister locations as the building also houses the newly opened Cookie Fix—providing customers with the opportunity to shop at both businesses within the convenience of a single location.
