CHELSEA – The Thompson Warriors picked up another win over a county foe on the road on Friday, Dec. 1 as they defeated the Chelsea Hornets 58-38.

After a quiet opening two minutes that saw the two sides in a scoreless deadlock, Thompson found its offensive rhythm first and cruised from there.

The Warriors opened the game with a 17-point first quarter and got out to a double-digit lead as the Hornets couldn’t keep up and scored six points in the opening eight minutes.

That set the tone for the rest of the contest. Even as Chelsea had its moments of success on the offensive end, Thompson exerted its will and exploited its opponent’s frustrations from the field to keep a commanding lead.

The Warriors added 18 more points before halftime, countering an 11-point quarter from the Hornets to walk into halftime with a 35-17 advantage.

Despite Chelsea’s best efforts, Thompson extended its lead by five in the third quarter to remain ahead and hold a 50-27 lead going into the fourth.

The Hornets won the fourth quarter 11-8, but Thompson cruised from there to the win and picked up a 20-point victory on the road.

Andy Olds led the Warriors with 11 points off 4-for-5 shooting while also adding three steals, and Daeshaun Morrissette was just behind him with 10 points, six rebounds and two assists.

Jay Green was all over the floor and the stat sheet for Thompson, recording 10 points, seven assists, four steals and three rebounds.

Carson McKenney had six points and five rebounds, while Jayden Love also had six points.

Avery Futch was Chelsea’s leading scorer with 10 points on the night.
