PELHAM – The weather was clear and the high was 82 degrees on Sunday, Oct. 22 at Pelham City Park’s first-ever Fall Fun Day.
“Our first Annual Fall Fun Day was a huge success,” Alicia Walter, assistant director of parks and rec, said. “We estimate 1000 were in attendance.”
Fall Fun Day began at 2 p.m. and ran until 4 p.m, and included everything from a trick-or-treat trail to bounce houses and many other activities.
A costume parade, led by the Pelham Public Library, began at 3:30 p.m. Community members, businesses, churches and clubs had decorated a variety of booths, and kids were encouraged to dress up and trick or treat at the different booths. A prize was given out to the booth that was deemed ‘the best decorated.’
“A ‘best decorated’ booth award was given to Pelham fit Body Bootcamp,” Walter said.
After Fall Fun Day ended, it was quickly followed by the final Music in the Park of 2023, which started at 4:30 p.m. and ran until 6 p.m.
The final band that performed for this year’s Music in the Park was the Black Sedan Band, a group that plays ’70s, ’80s and ’90s music along with some current pop songs. Black Sedan Band is composed of six members and plays at music events throughout the state at various venues.
“Black Sedan Band entertained us with music from all genres and decades,” Walter said. “The crowd loved the music, and many thanked us for the music series this fall.”
Due to Fall Fun Day’s initial success and Music in the Park’s continued success, Walter noted that both events will occur again next year in 2024.
“The day was amazing and the Pelham community really showed up and we were excited about the large turnout and we are already planning for next year to make it bigger and better,” Walter said.
Walter attributed the overall success of Fall Fun Day to the vendors who came out and helped put the event together.
“Thank you to all of our vendors that helped make this a great 1st Annual event,” Walter said.0 “We love serving the Pelham community.”
