HOOVER – Registration remains open for the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual golf tournament benefiting local students.

The 2021 Links Fore Scholars Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, Oct. 11 at Riverchase Country Club.

The tournament is a fundraiser for the Chamber’s scholarship program, which awards four graduating Hoover seniors pursuing two- or four-year higher education in Alabama each with a $4,000 scholarship.

“In 1996, the Hoover Area Chamber leadership saw a need for deserving graduating seniors with a strong desire to further their education struggle with finances,” said Toni Herrera-Bast, president and CEO of the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce. “Although we can’t provide our students with a full scholarship to higher education, this money gives them and their families some relief.”

Over the last 20 years, the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation has raised and awarded more than $200,000 in scholarship funds for local students.

“It is heartwarming to hear the stories of past winners who are now successful business leaders, homeowners and parents in our Hoover community,” Herrera-Bast said. “We are honored to have the opportunity to give back to our community by investing in its future.”

Sponsored by McLeod Software, the tournament will kick off with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

Any businesses or organizations interested in sponsorship opportunities may email toni@hooverchamber.org or call the Chamber office at (205) 988-5672.

“We have several options for avid golfers and non-golfers alike to come out and enjoy a great round of fellowship, networking and relationship-building for a good cause,” Herrera-Bast said. “We will be awarding prizes for teams who come in first, 12th and 20th place for our competitive friends.”
