HARPERSVILLE — After thoughtful consideration, the town of Harpersville has made the decision to cancel Harpersville Day 2020 due to continuing concerns surrounding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Following conversations with health officials, it was the unanimous consensus of the Harpersville Town Council to cancel Harpersville Day 2020, which was originally scheduled for Nov. 14, 2020.
While Harpersville Day is several months away, the preparation for an event of this size begins in June. The Council did not feel comfortable moving forward with the logistical planning of the event because COVID-19 still poses significant risks.
“The health and safety of our citizens and neighbors was, and will continue to be, our top priority in this decision,” stated a press release from the town. “Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.”
