PELHAM – Oak Mountain State Park will host a two-day event for the Birmingham Urban Mountain Peddlers’ 26th annual “Bump N’ Grind” mountain bike race on September 5-6.

The two-day event will feature categories for anyone from children to professional mountain bikers and also serves as a fundraiser for BUMP, who maintains more than 50 miles of trails throughout the area.

The race features six different categories, which according to BUMP President Jeff Rozycki are “Super D, Air D, Cross Country Races, Cat 3 Junior,” all of which will take place on Sept. 5 and “Cat 1 (XC1), Cat 2 (XC2) and Cat 3 (XC3),” which will take place on Sept 6.

The races will be open for people of all ages and range anywhere from 5-20 miles, so there are opportunities for people of all skill levels to participate.

Those interested can now pre-register for the event until July 31. Pre-registration comes with discounted prices and includes a T-shirt to commemorate the event. There are a wide variety of options in pricing and selecting which trail you would like to compete on. On-site registration will also be available for a higher price.

The race is sponsored by Discover Shelby, OMSP, Cahaba Cycles, the city of Pelham, Bike Link, Orange Seal, Birmingham Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, Ghost Train Brewing, ESI, Infiniti, Gulf South, USA Cycling, GoneRiding.com and OrthoExpress Urgent Care.
