As the leading voice for business throughout Shelby County, The Shelby County Chamber encourages everyone to follow the expanded Safer at Home Order Guidelines issued by Gov. Kay Ivey on July 15, including the wearing of masks and the observance of social distancing when in public.

“The health and safety of every employee — as well as every customer — should be our number one priority,” said 2020 Chamber Chair Kathy Copeland. “Out of respect for business owners, their employees and all of us, The Shelby County Chamber encourages everyone, when asked, to wear a mask and practice social distancing.”

Chamber President and CEO Kirk Mancer said that the Chamber’s leadership recognizes the personal freedoms which people as citizens enjoy—and that those freedoms also come with a certain level of responsibility.

“The Shelby County Chamber echoes Governor Ivey’s comments that defeating this pandemic will require all of us to be vigilant,” Mancer said. “That vigilance — wearing a mask and practicing appropriate social distancing — is paramount to our businesses in Shelby County being able to remain open.”
Copeland added that all workers throughout Shelby County should be able to feel confident in returning to work.

“All consumers should be reassured that shopping in our businesses can be done in a safe manner,” Copeland added. “We agree with Governor Ivey that we should all do everything we can to avoid our businesses having to close their doors again.”
