Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Athlete of the Week: July 12, 2020

Name: Jake Rivers
School: Oak Mountain High School
Grade: 12th
What sports do you play? Baseball
Do you have a pre-game/competition ritual? I say a prayer thanking God for giving me the ability to even play the game and to give me strength to do the best of my ability.
What’s your favorite subject at school? Why? I really love math. Subjects like English and history can have multiple answers to one question, while math has only one. I like being able to learn formulas and use them in multiple different scenarios.
Are you involved in other school activities or groups? Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is a big part of my school life, and going to the meetings helped me keep my perspective on the right things.
What are your hobbies? I enjoy going to the lake and spending time with my friends, like going fishing. I also like working out to try to get stronger for baseball.
What is your favorite sports team? The Atlanta Braves.
Who is your favorite athlete? Conor McGregor. I love how tough he is and how competitive he is. He comes off as cocky but he’s just very confident in his preparation. He’s a very humble person after the fight.
What do you want to be when you grow up? I would like to one day become a pediatrician since something medical has always been my goal.
