Shirley Jean Blackerby, age 81 of Calera, passed away Saturday, July 11 at her residence.

She was born on March 14, 1939; the daughter of the late Chester Floyd Brantley and the late Emma Lessie Posey Brantley.

She was a dear loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Tom) Slaughter of Calera; son, Wade (Gidget) Burnette of Jemison; sister, Ellen (James) Scott of Jemison; brother, Wayne Brantley of Montevallo; granddaughter, Jamie (Ben) Coleman of Hoover; granddaughter, Alana (Frank) Flow of Calera; grandson, Griffin Burnette of Tuscaloosa; grandson, Jackson Burnette of Jemison and five great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Jack Blackerby; parents, Chester Floyd Brantley and Emma Lessie Posey Brantley; brother, Dan Brantley; sister, Joyce (Jerry) Hayes; and sister-in-law, Peggy Brantley.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 15 at 10 a.m. in Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera with Rev. Nick Seamon officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home at Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera.
