COLUMBIANA – Ricky Ruston announced Monday, June 22, that he will seek re-election to the Columbiana City Council’s District 3 seat for a third term.
“It has been an honor and privilege to represent the city of Columbiana and the community members of District 3,” Ruston said. “I am excited to announce my intentions to seek another term as we approach the next cycle. I take great pride investing in our local community, partnering with our schools and always wanting to see Columbiana progress at its best. At the center of it all has been our youth by promoting growth and working alongside our organizations, seeking additional activities and ensuring they have a voice at the table with each opportunity.”
Ruston and his wife, Lauren, have lived in Columbiana all their lives, graduating from Shelby County High School
Ruston has held leadership positions since high school, when he was vice president of the SCHS Student Government Association. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Montevallo and is employed in the banking industry as a vice president in the consumer banking risk, audit and vendor program.
Ruston was first elected to the Council in 2012
“It’s been a journey that has been shared by my family all along the way and I’m excited to have the opportunity to represent District 3 again with new ideas, energy and the desire to keep investing in you, your families and the city of Columbiana,” Ruston said. “Thank you for your consideration and vote on August 25 as we start this process together! My family and I look forward to seeing you in your neighborhoods and in town.”
The Rustons have two sons, Davis (12) and Griffin (5).
