PELHAM – Pelham City Schools is currently holding a virtual job fair to hire for three different support staff positions at schools in the system.

The job fair is an online resource through the PCS website to provide information and requirements for the non-teaching positions which include custodian, child nutrition program associate and substitute bus driver.

“We really tried to think outside the box on how to let people know about these jobs, which is why we put the virtual job fair up,” said school system superintendent Dr. Scott Coefield.

Coefield said the virtual job fair is a great way to share information with those interested.

“Our support jobs pay anywhere from $14 to $18, and there are really good benefits,” Coefield explained. “People can use this resource to find out more about the jobs and the website really walks you through how to apply for these jobs.”

The custodian position seeks applicants for Pelham Park Middle School and Pelham Ridge Elementary School who will be responsible for cleaning facilities and maintaining the school grounds. Some requirements include a “working knowledge of custodial equipment and practices, and the physical strength, agility, dexterity, acuity and mobility to perform job functions,” according to the job listing.

The child nutrition program associate will be responsible for providing meals to the students. They will be responsible for “prepping, cooking, serving and cleaning” food for students and faculty members throughout the day.

For the substitute bus driver position, PCS is seeking individuals over the age of 21 who have a commercial driver’s license with a passenger and school bus endorsement to fill in when full-time bus drivers are not available to transport students.

All positions require certain physical requirements, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to pass a background check.
