April showers bring May flowers, they say. And, Pelham residents have many places to pick up posies that will brighten landscapes and add curb appeal to both businesses and homesteads. No matter your preference, there are big-box home improvement stores, department stores and even garden centers that can help with ideas and plant selections for your space to add new dimensions of creativity to your home.

Home Depot is a hotspot this time of year. Not only does the home improvement store carry name brand appliances, plumbing fixtures, paint, tools and other household essentials, but also folks can find everything needed for lawn care and maintenance. Find your favorite plants, flowers, bushes and trees along with colorful flowers, and containers of all shapes and sizes. Under the same roof you’ll find potting soil, sand, rocks (of all kinds), pine bark and accessories from water hoses to yard ornaments.

Walmart sports a garden center with a nice selection of flowers and plants, soil and bark, planters and containers, as well as some accessories (garden hoses, watering cans and plant fertilizer). It’s a great place to grab some greenery while on a grocery run.

Myers Plants and Pottery, just down from Pelham First Baptist Church, is a local garden center loaded with high-quality plants and garden items. You can find almost anything you need at this one-stop shop including landscaping products, hanging baskets, gorgeous flats of flowers in varying hues and a fun gift shop. Shopping local is paramount, especially during these current days that see small businesses struggling.

When you are looking to spruce up the front of your office building or business, or give a major overhaul to your yard, deck or neighborhood, consider keeping your dollars in the city and choose from the local establishments available. You’ll even find yard decorations for the holidays in these garden centers—poinsettias, blow up characters and other special outdoor ornaments. Also, you can typically find novelties like bird houses, bird baths and sometimes lawn furniture right here close to home.
