Alabaster Friday Night Movies series begins

ALABASTER – Friday Night Movies have begun in Alabaster, offering residents a free opportunity for summer entertainment while maintaining social distancing.
The movies will be shown some Friday nights from June 12 through July 24 at Veterans Park, 7305 Alabama 119.
“The movies are free so it makes for a fun, yet economical evening of entertainment for family and friends,” read a press release from Alabaster’s Parks and Recreation Department. “All you’ll need to bring is a blanket or chair to sit on, and some snacks and drinks. The movies will begin showing around dusk (usually 8 p.m.).”
The first movie to be shown was “The Lion King” (2019).
The schedule for the rest of the series is below:
- June 19—”Frozen II” (2019), 103 minutes, rated PG: Elsa the Snow queen and her sister Anna embark on an adventure far away from the kingdom of Arendelle. They are joined by friends, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven.
- July 10—“Aladdin” (2019), 128 minutes, rated PG: A street rat pursues the princess of Agrabah with the help of a powerful genie who can grant him three wishes. His primary opponent is a malevolent sorcerer who serves as the city’s grand vizier and the chief advisor to the Sultan.
- July 24—“Playing With Fire” (96 minutes), rated PG: A fire superintendent and his crew of smoke jumpers find themselves in over their heads after they rescue three siblings in the path of a wildfire, but are forced to babysit the unruly and unpredictable youngsters while they try to locate their parents.
Pets brought to the park must be leashed.
