The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office will resume normal office operations on Monday, June 1, after modifying operations due to COVID-19 concerns.

The office will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The north substation, located at 5511 U.S. Highway 280, will also be open to the public.

Beginning June 1, the public will be able to access all services that were previously available in person at the main office. These services include obtaining pistol permits and reports, inmate information, inmate visitation, making bonds, and adding money to inmate accounts.

The North substation is available for requesting copies of reports, accepting pistol permit applications and renewals and for making police reports.

Sheriff John Samaniego encouraged residents to continue to follow the social distancing guidelines and best practices for hygiene while in public.

“We’re extremely grateful for the cooperation, encouragement and support we have received from our citizens during these difficult months,” Samaniego said.

For the safety of the community and the staff, the Sheriff’s Office respectfully requests access to the lobby be limited to only the person needing to conduct business or visit.

“We understand that not all citizens are comfortable with conducting business in person during this transition,” read a release from the SCSO. “We are still here to serve you by mail and by phone. Pistol permits and report requests can be processed by mail. Please feel free to call us at (205) 669-4181 if you have any questions about how we can best assist you.”
