HELENA – Helena residents will soon be able to shop at the discount retailer Dollar Tree following the completion of a major retail development in the city, which also still features a vacant spot for lease next door.

The development was approved last year by the Helena City Council and will be constructed by Retail Specialists, LLC, who acquired the approximately 7-acre site. The project is estimated to be completed in 2021, following the completion of road improvements.

This unit is separate from the strip that is set to include Chick-Fil-A, Freddy’s and others. It is however located in the same area at Helena Road and Highway 17.

The unit has space for two retail outlets directly behind CVSwhat will be Chick-fil-A, one of which is already slated to be a Dollar Tree. The other is still looking for a renter offering 4,000-square-feet of space.

“We welcome the new business to our city,” said Mayor Mark Hall. “Dollar Tree is a thriving company and the tax revenue would be a welcome addition to our city.”

The empty space in this location does not have an owner yet, and is available at this time for potential clients.

“The tax revenue from these projects will be great for the city, and will go to support city services such as police, fire, paving, infrastructure, parks and recreation and our schools,” Hall said.

With heavy traffic at the four-way intersection of Shelby County 17, Helena Road and Coalmont Road, part of the construction in the area includes improvements to the surrounding roads to make it easier to access the new Dollar Tree, and other businesses.
