OMHS to serve as COVID-19 testing site on Friday

If you meet the requirements to be tested for COVID-19 and have struggled to find a place to get tested, Oak Mountain High School will offer free drive-thru testing for one day.
This Friday, May 1, the school will be testing site by the Shelby County Health Department for those who are showing symptoms of the novel coronavirus from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
You are asked to get tested only if you present the following symptoms:
- Fever, cough or shortness of breath
- Immunocompromised or have co-morbidities
- Age 65 or older
- A healthcare worker
- Assoicated with a long-term care facility
- Symptoms are moderate, sever or worsening.
If you have no symptoms, testing is not recommended according to the Shelby County Health Department. They also said if you do not fall into one of the high-risk categories mentioned above, that you should self isolate at home and call 1-888-264-2256 if your symptoms worsen.
In order to be tested, you must be at least 10 years of age or older. For more information, you can call the Shelby County Health Department at 205-664-2470. They are asking form calmness and patience during the process.
