Howell Horn, age 83, of Columbiana, passed away Monday, April 27.

Howell is preceded in death by his wife, Laura L. Horn; his parents, Yeager and Mayme Horn; and his sister, Carol Horn Shurbet.

He is survived by his daughter, Marsha Horn Harbin (Deby Wright); niece, Kelli Shurbet Gilmer (Jeff); nephew Randall Shurbet; and several great nieces and nephews.

Howell is a lifelong resident of Columbiana and served as a police officer and police chief for many years. He attended Auburn University and remained an avid Auburn fan for life. He graduated from the University of Montevallo with a degree is business.

A private graveside service will be held. He will be buried next to his beloved Laura.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests, memorials be made to the Independent Presbyterian Church Foundation, 3100 Highland Avenue, Birmingham, AL 35205.

Howell was supportive of his daughter, Marsha and supported her employment and philanthropic efforts through the IPC Foundation.
