MONTEVALLO – The Montevallo Design Review Committee will meet April 14 to consider a revised application from a company wanting to construct a Dollar General retail store on Alabama 119 in Montevallo.
The Broadway Group has submitted an application for the construction of a Dollar General store featuring a new building design prototype in the city’s Scenic Corridor Overlay District on Alabama 119.
Copies of the design plans are available on the city’s website, Cityofmontevallo.com, or by contacting City Clerk and Treasurer Herman Lehman at hlehman@cityofmontevallo.com.
The purpose of the meeting is to consider the design elements of the project.
The meeting will start at 3 p.m. at City Hall, but seating will be extremely limited (about 10 seats in the room) in keeping with Gov. Kay Ivey’s directives regarding public meetings and social distancing.
The meeting also will be broadcast on Facebook Live on the city’s page.
Anyone who wishes to comment is asked to do so in writing before the meeting.
Comments on design-related concerns regarding the revised plan may be emailed to Lehman.
If the Design Review Committee approves the design, the Montevallo Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing for the store’s site development plan on April 16 at 6 p.m.
The commission is also set to hold a public hearing April 16 on a request for the approval of a site development plan for a Dollar General store on property located at 110 Highway 25.
