Woman injured in shooting near Montevallo

Shelby County 911 received a call about a shooting with injuries in the 100 block of Tomlyn Road in unincorporated Shelby County, near the city of Montevallo, on Saturday, March 28, at about 10:30 PM.
Deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area and discovered a white female injured from several gunshot wounds. The victim reported that while walking in the area, a vehicle (unknown make or model) drove past her and then turned around. The vehicle then drove back by and an unknown person exited the car and began to shoot at the victim.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and is currently receiving medical treatment. A crime scene was established in the area and investigators from the SCSO’s Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene, and began their investigation into the shooting.
The investigation is still ongoing, but county investigators believe that the shooting was an isolated incident between the individuals involved.
