MONTEVALLO – A carjacking took place near the University of Montevallo’s Stewart Student Retreat Center on the night of Saturday, March 28, according to a UM Alert message.

The suspect fled away from campus in the direction of Highway 10.

The suspect is described as a white, heavyset male with red hair who appears to be about 40 years old. He was wearing a black tank top, blue jeans and boots and is 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall.

Montevallo residents are advised to monitor their surroundings. As of Sunday, March 29, it is unknown if the suspect has been caught.
