HELENA – For the third year, Shelby Emergency Assistance will host its Barks and Brews fundraiser at Oversoul Brewing in Old Town Helena on Saturday, March 7.

This free event, which will take place from 2-5 p.m., welcomes people and dogs of all ages to come out and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon.

Children and adults are invited to enjoy face painting by members of the Kappa Chi chapter of Phi Mu at the University of Montevallo or play corn hole and Jenga. There will be an opportunity for dogs to participate in an obstacle course.

This years’ silent auction offers packages that combine goodies for both the dogs and their owners – like toys and a grooming session for the dog and a bicycle from Coca-Cola for the owner.

Through sponsorships and the silent auction, the SEA Barks and Brews event has raised more than $3,000, all of which directly benefitted the SEA’s mission of helping people in Shelby County move from crisis to self-sufficiency.

“This event is a fun way to raise money for, and awareness about, the SEA organization,” said SEA Executive Director Karen Pendelton. “Last year’s event had a tremendous turnout, and we’re hoping for the same or even better attendance again this year.”

This year’s event, sponsored by Bradford Real Estate, will feature food from Brother Beard’s Backyard BBQ, and a live musical performance by the Love Rat Band.

This year, SEA is hoping to raise $5,000 at this event. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Those interested should call Pendleton at (205) 665-1942 or send an email to karenp.sea@gmail.com.

The SEA strives to provide the basic needs of people in crisis, helping them achieve self-sufficiency and empowering them to make positive contributions in their communities.
