MONTEVALLO – The city has announced plans for its 2020 Arbor Day celebration on Saturday, Feb. 29.

The Montevallo Arbor and Beautification Board will host the event at the Montevallo Recycling Center, where more than 2,500 bare-root tree seedlings will be given away to residents on a first-come, first-served basis.

The seedlings will include the following species: Pin Oak, White Oak, Southern Red Cedar, River Birch, Pignut Hickory, Flowering Dogwood, Red Maple, Redbud and Pecan.

The celebration will start at 9 a.m. and conclude at noon.

The recycling center is located at the intersection of Overland Road and Spring Creek Road.
