COLUMBIANA – A Childersburg man has been arrested and charged in Shelby County with five felony counts of deviate sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 12.

Samuel Ray Hill, 50, faces five counts of first-degree sodomy and is being held in the Shelby County Jail with a total bond of $50,000.

Hill, who lists an address in the 300 Block of Kymulga Road in Childersburg, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 9.

Police allege Hill engaged in deviate sexual intercourse with a victim under the age of 12 over a period of time from Oct. 3, 2014, through Nov. 13, 2019.

A preliminary hearing has been set for 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 30 with District Court Judge Daniel A. Crowson presiding.
