PELHAM – Teachers in the Pelham City School System will have an extra reason to be cheerful this holiday season, as Board of Education members made a surprise visit to deliver extra compensation checks.
On the morning of Tuesday, Dec. 10, members from the Pelham Board of Education, along with Superintendent Dr. Scott Coefield, visited each school throughout the district to hand deliver the extra compensation checks to the surprise of the teachers.
“Today may have started out as a rainy day, but the outlook was bright for our teachers and staff,” a Facebook post from Pelham City Schools read. “Our Board of Education members and Dr. Coefield visited each school this morning to hand-deliver extraordinary compensation checks and personally thank employees for the energy, efforts and dedication they put into cultivating the well-being and success of our students!”
This was the fifth straight year that the board has provided the extraordinary compensation for employees, which will no doubt come in handy as the holiday season approaches.
Several teachers and members of the Pelham community were once again grateful for the gesture.
“As always, so grateful for this school system, its board members and the beautiful, smart and amazing students we have the privilege of seeing every day,” Nicole Smith said in a response to the extra compensation on Facebook. “Merry, Merry Christmas Pelham!”
Christmas Break for Pelham City Schools will begin on Saturday, Dec. 21 and teachers will return on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020 following the New Year.
