WILSONVILLE – Members of the community will have a chance to honor and remember fallen veterans at the Town of Wilsonville’s Wreaths Across America event on Saturday, Dec. 14.
The event will be held indoors at Wilsonville United Methodist Church, 111 School Street, at 11 a.m. Barbara Lowe, Wreaths Across America location coordinator, said the keynote speaker for the event will be Marine Lt. Col. Allan Miller and the master of ceremonies will be Patsy Colley with the Fine Arts Club of Wilsonville.
Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from Troop 588 will present the colors and lead the Pledge of Allegiance, and the singing of the national anthem by Sharon Ross will follow. A POW MIA remembrance ceremony will also take place and Dr. Jay Crisman, of 280 Animal Medical Center, will play Taps.
After the program those in attendance will disperse to the Town of Wilsonville, Wilsonville Community and Old Chapel cemeteries to lay a total of 179 wreaths. Lowe said enough wreaths have been purchased to cover every grave, but volunteers are needed to help lay the wreaths.
