ALABASTER – Thompson High School’s Youth Leadership Development Program participants are doing their part to recognize and give back to veterans and active duty military personnel on Veterans Day, which is Monday, Nov. 11.
On Nov. 11, veterans and active duty military will be treated to a free $20 car wash at any Marc-1 Car Wash location. At the Pelham location, YLDP members will help vacuum vehicles and provide basic interior detailing and window cleaning services.
From 8-10 a.m. at the Pelham location, veterans and active duty military will be treated to breakfast while they wait for their vehicles to be cleaned. Breakfast is sponsored by Rose Office Systems Inc.
Noah Tanner, YLDP member and THS senior, said the group decided to organize a service project that coincides with Veterans Day after reviewing their past projects and noticing there was a need for more projects centered on giving back to veterans and military personnel.
“I sat down with Marcus Kitrell who is the owner of Marc-1 Car Wash, told him our idea and he gave us his full support and offered his resources,” Tanner said. “We’re excited to have this opportunity to give back to veterans and active duty military.”
