HELENA – A number of members of the Helena community were treated to a lunch on Sunday, Oct. 20, for their hard work, dedication and volunteerism to the city of Helena.
Helena City Council President Hal Woodman hosted the annual volunteer luncheon where he honored a number of different individuals and groups and awarded the Volunteer of the Year.
The luncheon was held at the Mikey’s at Fox Valley restaurant in Maylene as Woodman honored members from the Board of Adjustment, the Planning and Zoning Committee, the Helena Beautification Board, the Historical Preservation Committee and the Helena Library Board.
The Volunteer of the Year award was given to Jack Gray for his more than 30 years of volunteer work in the city of Helena.
Some of his volunteer work includes serving 28 years on the Planning and Zoning committee, 18 years of serving on the Buck Creek Festival Committee, volunteering for Movies in the Park, a Civitan service club member, a volunteer for Helena Market Days, an election poll worker, a volunteer for the Helena Christmas parade and he is a founding member of the Boys Club.
Each fall, Woodman honors these volunteers as a way of saying thanks for their volunteer efforts.
