ALABASTER – The wait will soon be over because Golden Rule BBQ is set to open in Alabaster on Monday, Oct. 14.
Paul Curcio, the owner of Aiden Lees Food Service, already owns locations in Pelham and Helena. The third restaurant will open at 151 Industrial Road, attached to the Exxon gas station.
The lunch spot will be open Monday-Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The express-style restaurant will feature traditional Golden Rule BBQ pork, chicken and ribs with baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw and banana pudding. Some of the food will be prepped at the Pelham location and then transported to Alabaster to help maintain taste consistency.
As Curcio prepares to open the Alabaster store, he said he’s working on providing leadership opportunities to two dedicated employees, Lauren Mims and Latoya Sumerlin.
“Lauren is helping set up the new location and will have areas of responsibility at the store as well as the Pelham location,” Curcio said. “We are also working on a plan for her to be an operating partner. I could not think of a better way of thanking her for being a part of this store than giving her a chance to own a part of the store.”
Sumerlin, kitchen manager at the Pelham location, will transition to being responsible for the daily operations of the Alabaster store.
“With business, you are only as good as your team,” Curcio said. “I am thankful for the teams I have and I want to take care of those who have taken care of me along the way and pay it forward.”
