WESTOVER – Teshua Farms in Westover is gearing up for the fall season with the second annual pumpkin patch.
The patch will be open this year from Sept. 27 until Oct. 27 with hours being Fridays from 1-6 p.m.; Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sundays from 1-6 p.m.
Larger groups such as school groups or corporate events are welcome to attend the farm during weekday hours, but need to call in advance, said farm owner Mike Betz.
This year, the patch will feature things such as a hay maze, a petting zoo, a hay bale slide, corn bins and a tricycle tractor track.
There is also a general store with treats and farm products such as jams and jellies and other Teshua Farms items.
“We are farm life in a natural setting so we don’t have any plastic bouncy houses or things like that,” Betz said. “People will definitely experience farm life when they come.”
Betz said the pumpkin patch is conveniently located to Chelsea, Hoover and the 280 corridor.
“We are the closest pumpkin patch to Birmingham,” Betz said.
New to this year’s patch is the Harvest Music Series, featuring musical acts throughout the fall for families to come to the farm and enjoy.
The events will be on Saturdays from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. beginning with Oct. 5 for a “Hay Barn Hoe Down.”
Oct. 12 there will be a “Faith at the Farm,” event with three local Christian musicians that will be performing an evening of praise and worship, and Oct. 26 will feature Act of Congress.
Another new addition to this year’s patch is the option for advance ticket sales.
Betz said tickets are available online and can be purchased ahead of time, at a discounted rate.
“We are doing a BOGO for opening day,” Betz said.
There will also be options for goat yoga during the patch season. More information about specific times can be found on the farm’s website.
“It will be a great harvest season where we can share farm life, our faith, and fun with folks in our community,” Betz said. “We love people and we love community and we want to share the goodness of the farm with them.”
