John Dennis Grogan, age 73, of Alabaster passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27.

Mr. Grogan was a native of Florence, having graduated from Coffee High School. He went on to serve in the United States Navy on the Eisenhower Aircraft Carrier. He then graduated from Auburn University with a Master’s Degree.

Mr. Grogan had a career at Alabama Power that span the length of 38 years before retiring as the Manager of Environmental Affairs. He was a Charter member of Cross Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Dean Peeler Grogan; daughter, Heather Grogan McWhorter (Barton); grandchildren, Ireland Grogan and Finn Grogan; and son, Matt Dennis Grogan.

There will be a visitation Friday Aug. 30 from 12-1 p.m. in the Fireside Room followed by a celebration of life at 1 pm in the Cross Creek Baptist Church Sanctuary at 600 Crosscreek Trail, Pelham, Alabama 35124.
