Nellie Jean Nelson, 89, of Alabaster died Thursday, Aug. 22.

Mrs. Nellie Jean Nelson was born on Saturday, June 14, 1930 in Birmingham. She was the daughter of the late Bertha Cassels Laroska.

She was an X-Ray Technician in the medical field.

Surviving are her daughter, Terri (Greg) Nobles of Clanton; two grandchildren, Kathryn Nobles of Huntsville and Rebecca (Danny) Brown of Clanton; two great-grandchildren, Danielle Brown of Clanton and Lacy Brown of Clanton; two sisters, Sherrel (David) Poole of Mobile and Gloria Acton of Trussville; sister-in-law, Faye Nelson of Alabaster; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Bunk” Nelson, Jr.; mother, Bertha Cassels Laroska; brother, Ken Nelson; and sister, Joy Comer.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 10-11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Greg Nobles officiating. Interment will follow in Helena City Cemetery, Helena.
