Doris Evelyn Kelley, age 90, of Pell City passed away Saturday, Aug. 10. Doris was born Aug. 25, 1928 in Seymore.
The youngest of five children, Doris was a brought up in a very loving home, filled with family values and the word of God. After she graduated college, Doris joined the Navy and served our country during the Vietnam War as a photolitographer. During her service, Doris was awarded with National Defense, Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal.
Doris was fiercely independent and after her service time had ended she spent her career as an entrepreneur, and independent contractor. She was a good and faithful Christian who knew Gods word like the back of her hand and often quoted passages from the Bible.
In her later years, Doris enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews who she loved as she would her own children.
Doris is preceeded in death by her parents, O.P. Kelley and Mary Virgie Lawley Kelley; and siblings, Odie Kelley (Sis), Ethel Foshee (John), Ivy Lee Kelley, and Jewel Burke (Ralph).
Left behind to cherish her memory is her niece, Annette Lumpkin (Larry); niece-in-law, Earlene Burke; great-nieces, Angela Gandy (Rodger) of Prattville, and Susan Caskey (Ricky) of Lousiana; along with a plethora of other great nieces and nephews, as well a great- great nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Doris will be held Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 10-11 a.m. at Rockco Funeral Home, Montevallo. Following the visitation will be a committal service at 11 a.m. at Montevallo City Cemetery, Montevallo.
