Betty Payne, age 85, of Alabaster, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15.

The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16 at Bolton Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 17 at Camp Branch United Methodist Church with Rev. Eddie Bolen and Rev. Jerry Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Nabors Cemetery. Bolton Funeral Home is directing.

Mrs. Payne was a member of Camp Branch United Methodist for 64 years and a member of The United Methodist Women. She began her career at Central State Bank in 1952 and followed with a long career at Thompson Middle School, working closely with the community. She retired in the early 80s.

Mrs. Payne is survived by her children, Gregory Payne (Anita) and Debra Payne; grandchildren, Jonathan Payne and Ahna Frye (Cam); brothers, Milton Barrett, Lamar Barrett (Annette), and John D. Barrett (Jean); and a host of other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Payne asked that donations be made to Camp Branch UMC at 123 Camp Branch Road, Alabaster, AL 35007.
